Mr. Opp rose to the rank of Sergeant in the United States Air Force Reserve during his six years of service in the 1980s and has over 28 years of experience in the environmental and engineering consulting industry, pre-dating the advent of ASTM E1527. Mr. Opp graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies in 1988. Later in that same year, Mr. Opp began his environmental engineering career providing third-party oversight of full-floor asbestos abatement projects at the John Hancock building in Chicago, Illinois.He would go on to open an office in Anaheim, California for a Chicago-based environmental consulting firm in 1990. During the course of his career Mr. Opp’s responsibilities have included conducting and managing numerous asbestos-containing material (ACM) and lead-based paint (LBP) surveys, as well as conducting and reviewing thousands of Phase I and Phase II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) for industrial, commercial, retail, national restaurant and grocery store chains, hospitality, healthcare, national lending institutions, and multi-tenant residential properties throughout the United States and Puerto Rico. Mr. Opp graduated with his Juris Doctor degree from Western State University College of Law in Fullerton, California in 1999 and became a member of the California Bar Association in 2000. Mr. Opp joined Salem Engineering Group, Inc. in 2007 as the Environmental Division Manager and became a partner at Salem Engineering Group, Inc in 2009.
